The process winrsm.exe is a part of the Real Spy Monitor program. Real Spy is a software which monitors the computer's system for keystrokes that were pressed, programs executed, files accessed and/or modified, and websites visited. This software can also capture and save screen snapshots of windows that were opened and accessed. The recorded pieces of information can then be retrieved by the user for future references. Real Spy is suitable for people who would like to keep track of their activities while using the computer or for those who would like to monitor other individuals who have access to their PC. This program is developed by ShareStar, Inc.

Upon installation, the system will recommend that the file winrsm.exe be located in C:/Program Files/Real Spy Monitor/. However, the user can opt to provide a different path for the file. The winrsm.exe process is not a Windows system file and it is not required by the computer to operate. Since the application housing the winrsm.exe file monitors activities within the system, it is considered as a background process. In addition, the winrsm.exe file can run on stand-alone computers and it does not require Internet access. The file winrsm.exe is not related to any hardware. Furthermore, the file winrsm.exe makes use of around 600 kb worth of RAM resources.

To free up some memory, the user can unload the winrsm.exe process if he is certain that the activities within a specific session does not need to be recorded.
