The process vet98.exe or Vet Startup is the main executable application of the software InoculateIT Personal Edition and Vet AntiVirus for Windows 98 operating system developed by Computer Associates International, Inc.

Though not as fast or feature rich as other commercial virus scanners, the program vet98.exe detects and cleans in real-time conventional file and boot sector viruses as well as macro viruses hidden in Office Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and Access databases. It also detects polymorphic and stealth viruses, which modifies their signatures in an attempt to avoid detection.

The vet98.exe application provides internet protection that automatically monitors all downloaded files and email attachments. It checks the boot sector and memory during startup then continues to run in the background. The process vet98.exe acts as a real-time monitor that scans files as they are executed or written to and from the disk.

The vet98.exe program has a configuration wizard for setting up various options in the program itself that will sufficiently help you customize it according to your needs. Its Auto Download feature automatically downloads the most recent virus definition files.
