The vaserv.exe process is also called the VAServ Application that launches the software Vaio Action Setup. It is installed with Sony Vaio notebooks to handle the data provided by the device when you plug in a digital or video camera, and other similar devices via FireWire or USB. Sony Corporation developed the program vaserv.exe.
The file vaserv.exe is normally found in a subfolder of C:/ Program Files/Sony/Vaio Action Setup/. The process vaserv.exe is related to several other processes such as dragdrop.exe, ezsp_px.exe, hkserv.exe, hkwnd.exe, and msstat.exe. There is an icon for the program vaserv.exe on the system taskbar next to the clock. Right click on this icon opens to the context menu of the software Vaio Action Setup.
On Windows XP, the most common occurrence of the file vaserv.exe is 40960 bytes, 83% of its total occurrence. It also occupies 53248 bytes of physical RAM resources. The process vaserv.exe has the ability to record data and keyboard inputs. It does not appear to be a security risk.
You can automatically use AutoMail with the use of the program vaserv.exe, provided additional settings are established in addition to its standard settings. If these settings are not established, AutoMail will not work normally.

It can be added to the list of startup processes by adding its entry on the Run, RunOnce, RunServices, and RunServicesOnce in the system registry. The file vaserv.exe is not a fundamental system component. However, the application vaserv.exe should not be deleted, disabled, or altered in anyway in order to use the full functions of the software to which it is attached.
