Windows Process Description:

SafeTP is a security software application that contains the executable program file known as STPMGR.EXE among other core components. The file STPMGR.EXE is not associated with the Windows file system, but the STPMGR.EXE process has functions that are integral to the proper functionality of the program housing the STPMGR.EXE process.

The STPMGR.EXE is a user-initialized process. This means the STPMGR.EXE process calls upon the other crucial constituents of the program in order to provide the application's full range of features upon the STPMGR.EXE file's execution. Execution of the STPMGR.EXE process can be done by double-clicking on the file or clicking on the shortcuts placed by the program's installer on the desktop as well as on the Start Menu< Programs list.

The SafeTP program is a transparent security tool for FTP users that connects on Unix or nt/2000 FTP servers. Among the benefits of having Stpmgr.exe or SafeTP include transparency features among others. When SafeTP is installed on the machine along with the STPMGR.EXE executable file, any ordinary Windows FTP client instantly becomes secure without any other user interference. The STPMGR.EXE process provides the user of the program with a means to intercept outgoing FTP network connections from the client. The STPMGR.EXE process encrypts it before sending the data to the network. The STPMGR.EXE process calls upon the other integral processes of the program while in silent mode. The program and its constituent processes including the file STPMGR.EXE are 100% compatible with existing unsecured ftp servers.

SafeTP ensures the security of control channels that include the username and password login sequence. SafeTP protects the data and control channels against multiple attacks. The core components of the SafeTP application are the client, sftpc, and the server sftpd. The Version 1.9 of the STPMGR.EXE process was released in November 21 2000. Most users state that this STPMGR.EXE process version has a better sustaining power than the previous one. However, this STPMGR.EXE file version did not have security fixes. Rather, the STPMGR.EXE process together with the integral components of the application provided a more stable environment owing to the file encoding option that is tamperproof. January 4, 2001 saw the release of the STPMGR.EXE file version 2.0 that provided support MS Windows ME-based machines. In June 19 2001, a public test FTP server was set up to test client installation in Berkeley.

The STPMGR.EXE process can be accessed by either the user or the administrator with each file having a different content based on accessibility and security. The STPMGR.EXE process ensures that users are safe to access their accounts using FTP servers.
