Windows Process Description:

The STARTSTOP.EXE process gives you total control of your Registry and startup applications. This is because the STARTSTOP.EXE process gives you an easier way to disable and enable startup programs upon its execution. The STARTSTOP.EXE process can be executed by double-clicking on the file or clicking on the shortcut icons found on the desktop or on the Start Menu< Programs list. These STARTSTOP.EXE file shortcut icons were dropped by the installer of the program during the installation process as validated by the user through pop-up installation dialogue boxes that instruct the user to confirm whether he or she wants to place a shortcut icon on the Start Menu< Programs list and/or the desktop.

Upon its execution, the STARTSTOP.EXE process calls upon the other integral components of the application in order to launch an application window. The application window launched by the execution of the STARTSTOP.EXE process can be used by the user to provide him or her with access to configure the processes that only need to run during boot time.

The STARTSTOP.EXE process has striking similarities to the MSCONFIG tool, but the STARTSTOP.EXE file is relatively simpler and easy to use as opposed to the MSCONFIG utility. The user can permanently disable startup programs or determine the activity of each startup process through a dialog box that appears every time the STARTSTOP.EXE initializes. Since the STARTSTOP.EXE process runs during boot time, the application housing the STARTSTOP.EXE process dropped the registry keys Run, RunOnce, and RunServices among others during the installation process. It is further recommended that The STARTSTOP.EXE process be executed manually by the user instead of initializing during startup. This is because the STARTSTOP.EXE process may use up physical RAM and virtual memory resources needed by users who regularly conduct RAM-heavy activities on their machines.

Recommendations: This is a safe process. There is no necessity to remove this process from your system or change it in any way.
