Windows Process Description:

The program file refresh.exe was made by the Iomega Corporation that provides data backup, storage devices, removable storage, External Hard Drives, Network Storage, REV, Zip, DVD/Compact Disk Burning and managing services. The Iomega Ware software that houses the file refresh.exe adds a refresh shortcut icon on the start-up folder that runs the refresh.exe which will add shortcuts for your Iomega drives on the desktop, to the Send To folder and My Documents folders. This holds true except if you have used a remove drive shortcuts process. For those who are interested in Registry modification or at least have a knowledge in editing the hive, try to look for a "ShortcutPrefs" key that contains a Do Refresh value (00 is disabled, 01 is enable). The refresh.exe is a program file that is not associated with the Microsoft Windows operating system.

The refresh.exe file is a part of the Iomega software that loads the software icons on your desktop on startup. This particular file process is not really necessary to be activated on your startup list using the msconfig command in windows. Once installed, you can disable the refresh.exe on start-up by pressing the start button on your desktop screen, click on run and type msconfig then the msconfig window pops up. Click on the start-up tab then uncheck the list box that is related to refresh.exe or the Iomega software like the Imgstart.exe. The configuration settings should return to default standards the next time you boot up your pc once it is disabled. The executable file refresh.exe does not stay inside the memory because it stops after running.

Another part of the Iomega software is the Iomega Watch ware that runs the file Iowatch.exe which automatically prompts you for a password and verification when you put in a disk that is read/write protected. It does not actually work with parallel-port drives and it is deactivated by default. To activate it, you have to run the program again when it is already running to access the program's options window. On the options box, you can configure whether and how often it checks for read/write protected disks.
