Windows Process Description:

The process loadqm.exe is associated to the Microsoft Windows Operating System. This process is a component of MSN Explorer and loads the MSN Queue Manager. Upon execution, it calls the host of dlls, exes and other fundamental processes needed to run the MSN Explorer application.

The application loadqm.exe is a component of the Background Intelligent File Transfer Service also known as the Drizzling Service. The Drizzling Service is being used by processes such as the Automatic Update tool for Windows Update.

The loadqm.exe file is located in the directory of C:/Windows and occupies a minimal amount of disk space on Windows XP which is only 7536 bytes. But if the file loadqm.exe is located in the subfolder of C:/Windows/System32, its file size increases to 380416 bytes.

The loadqm.exe application is added to the startup folder and starts with the Windows bootup process. It creates the following registry keys in the system registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run. The program loadqm.exe has no visible window. It has the ability to record keyboard inputs, hides itself and acts as a background process.

The file loadqm.exe is not considered hazardous to your system, but was branded as spyware by certain anti-spyware programs due to its capability to spy on you and report your every move to a central database system.

Because of its ability to utilize a great deal of system resources, the loadqm.exe program is encountering difficulty performing its function. It is recommended that it be disabled from starting when Windows first loads. But in some cases, disabling the loadqm.exe application prevents internet sharing on Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2.

Though found in the system32 folder, the loadqm.exe process is not necessary for the normal functioning of the Windows operating system. On Windows XP, the MSN Explorer and Auto-Update feature is disabled. Therefore, it is your discretion if you want to leave it running on startup or not.
