The lmpdpsrv.exe process is an executable application installed as a part of Lexmark Printer Driver Plus. It is also known as PDP RPC Server. PDP means Printer Driver Plus while RPC means Remote Procedure Calling. This process allows network access to your Lexmark Printer.

The lmpdpsrv.exe application is currently registered to Lexmark International but was originally created by the DeviceGuys in 1994. The company was later acquired by a document imaging group of communications, chip maker Conexant Systems in 1999. In 2001, it was spun out as a privately held company under its new name, ViewAhead Technology, Inc. ViewAhead designs semi-conductor chips and complementary software used in multi-function devices that combine printer, fax, scanner or copier into one unit.

The application lmpdpsrv.exe pops up after the installation of a Lexmark Printer. It is an essential component needed by the printer to run, thus it should not be altered or uninstalled. If you uninstall the lmpdpsrv.exe process, you will loose all your speed dial information. The printer will no longer work including its access over the network.

The program lmpdpsrv.exe is loaded during the Windows boot process and creates the following registry keys: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run in the system registry.
