The process imekrig.exe is a product of Microsoft Corporation. The imekrig.exe process is a process part of the Microsoft Input Method Editor. The IME or Input Method Editor Program and term originated from Microsoft Windows operating system. Under Mac OS, it is called input method and input method in Chinese and FEP in Japanese under MS-DOS operating system.

The imekrig.exe process of IME is used to simply the key in or typing of Asian characters such as Chinese, Japanese and Korean. The process imekrig.exe supports the applications of Microsoft Office under different versions of the Windows particularly Windows 95 and Windows 98 and NT 4.0 when encoding Asian text characters. The imekrig.exe process under IME technology eases the worry of the users to remember all possible character values when using complex characters. Instead, the IME through the imekrig.exe process monitors a user's keystrokes, expect the characters the user might want, and presents a list of language options and characters to choose from.
