The main operation of the ico.exe process file is to provide additional configuration settings and supplementary diagnostics for the Primax Mouse product line. With one of these registry entries: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/RunOnce or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/RunServicesOnce or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/RunServices, the process ico.exe is started by Windows upon startup.
Generally it is up to the users' preference if they want to allow the ico.exe to run on startup or on demand. If users do not want the ico.exe process file running every time Windows start, all they have to do is to open the System Configuration Utility and deselect the process file from the Startup Tab. To launch the System Configuration Utility, click Start and then select Run. When the Run dialog box appears, type in msconfig and then the utility will automatically appear.
The Mouse Suite 98 Daemon or the program file ico.exe is an executable process belonging to the Primax Mouse Suite or simply Mouse Suite. The process ico.exe is automatically installed when users install the Primax Mouse Suite in their computer system. By default, the file location of the ico.exe process is found to be in this system subfolder: C:/Windows/System32/ico.exe. No obvious indication is shown by the process ico.exe when it is running in the computer system, so it is classified as a background process.
The process ico.exe is not regarded by Windows as one of their primary components. However, termination or removal of the process file ico.exe while the Primax Mouse Suite software is being used is not advisable as the additional configuration settings it provides for the Primax Mouse will not be able to function. The ico.exe file can actually be imitated by malicious files known as malware so they can enter the computer system undetected. Users are highly advised to always update their Antivirus products so they can identify the validity of their important files.
