Windows Process Description:

The icm or the process file icm.exe is a part of the subscription program Internet Call Manager. The program file icm.exe's chief operation is to launch the dialog box of the Internet Call Manager or/and the Internet Call Manager's taskbar icons during the Windows boot up process. The file icm.exe must run at startup since its operations are carried out during the Windows boot up process. It is not advised that users disable or remove the application icm.exe from the list of Startup processes since it will affect the normal functioning of the Internet Call Manager and the file icm.exe itself. During the boot up process of the computer system, it automatically launches the icm.exe file via a RunOnce, Run, RunServicesOnce or RunServices entry in the registry.

When the Internet Call Manager program is fully installed in the user's computer system, it will automatically direct the process icm.exe to be situated in the folder C:/Program Files/Internet Call Manager/icm.exe. The maker of the Internet Call Manager Program and the icm.exe process is the AOL Halifax or Infointeractive or InternetCallManager.com. The icm.exe process file is observed to be a background process since it does not show any indication when it is running in the system. It is also observed to be an important process for the Internet Call Manager program but not a central file of Windows.

The Internet Call Manager program which uses the icm.exe process is a subscription program or service that can keep track of dial-up phone line connections for incoming telephone calls while also handling the voicemail. When the user receives a telephone call while currently online, the program will instantly open a window to display the caller's information such as name and telephone number.
