Windows Process Description:
The hplampc.exe process filename is an executable filename associated with Hewlett-Packard's HP Scanner Utility and Still Image Devices Utility of most common Hewlett-Packard scanner models including 4200c, 3400c, 3300c, 3200c, 5200c, 4400c, and 4300c. The hplampc.exe process will run during the computer startup process and as soon as the Windows system is booted up it directs the scanner to warm-up the device's lamp in advance even prior to determination of use or not.
The hplampc.exe process filename was a patch created for the installed drivers of the different models of Hewlett-Packard scanner devices in order to resolve scanner issues related to the scanner lamp either not turning on or not turning off. The hplampc.exe was a patch sent out by Hewlett-Packard to replace the hplamp.exe file that was also originally sent out as a patch to fix the same scanner issues. It was said in user reviews that the hplampc.exe file contained a lot of software bugs and errors that were not only able to resolve the scanner issues it was sent out for but it made the scanner software unable to find the actual scanner on other computers. There were also reported issues of both the hplamp.exe and the hplampc.exe being an annoyance when the process crashes or simply disappears from the list of processes in Task tab and sometimes will even conflict with the current running background tasks. If there are no issues encountered with the hplampc.exe process file running during your startup, then the right thing to do is to leave it as it is. But should there be problems arising with the hplampc.exe, then be advised that even without the hplampc.exe process file, the computers scanner will still be working fine.
The hplampc.exe process file has a file size of 35840 bytes and is stored in the Windows file folder. Despite some few bad reviews of the hplampc.exe; it is still generally recommended to leave the hplampc.exe process running at startup in order for the patch program of the scanner software to function properly.
