Windows Process Description:

The fd.exe application is the main executable file of the FreshDownload software. FreshDownload is download manager software for speedy Internet downloads such as videos, mp3 files, software and others. The process fd.exe was developed and first released by FreshDevices Corporation in September 2001. As of October 2007, the latest version of the fd.exe file is version 7.88. This has more advanced capabilities than earlier versions including the site explorer, download scheduler, redialing feature, and downloading through FTP and HTTP protocols.

After complete installation, the fd.exe application should be automatically integrated with popular browsers including Netscape versions 4.x and 6.x, Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 5.5 and higher, and Opera version 5.x and higher. If not, the computer may be running with other download managers aside from FreshDownload. To ensure the integration of the fd.exe process to the browser, set the FreshDownload program as the default download manager. Open the FreshDownload window, go to the "View" menu and selected the "FreshDownload Options." Under the "Integration" tab, select the desired browser for integration and click "OK." Make sure that the third party browser extensions are enabled.

The process fd.exe can also be manually integrated to browsers of Mozilla Firebird and Phoenix. To manually integrate the process fd.exe in Mozilla

Firebird browser, copy the file named "fdplugin.dll" from C:/Program Files/FreshDevices/FreshDownload and paste it in C:/Program Files/Mozilla Firefox/plugins. The same procedure may also be used in manually integrating the fd.exe application in the Phoenix browser.

The fd.exe file maximizes download speed by using multiple connections and performing split downloads of the same file. The file fd.exe alone occupies 702KB of disk storage space. It is commonly found in C:/Program Files/FreshDevices/FreshDownload. When executed, the process fd.exe uses up at least 2116KB of RAM resources. Memory usage of the application increases depending on the extent of its scheduled tasks.

The process fd.exe requires the operating system Microsoft Windows 95/98/Millenium/NT 4.0/2000/XP to run efficiently.
