Windows Process Description:
The fc.exe file is a file comparison application for comparing two or more text documents within one computer system. You may make use of the fc.exe application to compare binary text only documents located in the same directory.
When comparing files, make sure that you are in the same directory path as the document you want to compare. To proceed, you will need to enter a command prompt window since the fc.exe process is a DOS based application. From here, you may type in "fc /[comparing option] filepath1 file path2". The file paths are simply the two documents you want to compare (i.e. xxx.txt yyy.txt). The comparing option indicated here pertains to the different options you may want to use in doing the file comparison. Here are some of the options you can use:
- /B - to perform a binary comparison
- /C - to do case insensitive comparison per string
- /T - option for not expanding tabs into spaces
- /W - to compress spaces and tabs when comparing

Comparing files xxx.txt and yyy.txt
***** xxx.txt
The blue sky comes forth like a happy smile
Eating my heart out from the swamps of the Nile
Ecstasy fills the emptiness of the long while
***** yyy.txt
The blue sky comes forth like a happy smile
Eating my fart out from the swamps of the Nile
Ecstasy fills the emptiness of the long while
*****
