The process eaclean.exe is part of the Easy Access Cleanup Application developed by Compaq Computer Corporation for their Easy Access Button Support feature.

The process eaclean.exe, or the application Easy Access Cleanup Application, can be download from the site http://www.compaq.com/or is included in the Installation CD of assorted models of Compaq laptops.

Once installed in the system, the file eaclean.exe is located under the folder C:/Program Files/ Easy Access Button Support/and will be included in your startup group and initialize upon boot. The process has a startup registry value of "EACLEAN" under the location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run/.

When the process is active, it will have no visible window and will take up a total memory allocation of 160KB. But the process can be executed using the Easy Access Button in your Control Panel.

The eaclean.exe is developed by Compaq Computer Corporation to aid in various functions of the Easy Access Buttons which uses extra keys present in Compaq laptops. This component allows the user to customize the settings of the Easy Access Buttons in Compaq computers like Internet bookmarks, files, and user's favorite software and applications.

Easy keys included in Compaq laptops are multimedia functions play, previous, next, stop and mute. Other buttons include Internet Explorer (or Mozilla Firefox depending on the default browser used by the system), and launchers for various Windows application such as Outlook Express or Windows Mail (for Windows Vista only), Windows Explorer, Camera, My Computer, Search and Notepad. Some laptops also include Microsoft Office buttons for MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

The process eaclean.exe is not a required system component and can be disabled if necessary to conserve system resources. You may use WinTask or MsConfig do disable the said process from your startup group or you may remove the application using the Add/Remove Programs applet in your Control Panel.
