The process dsc.exe is part of the OptusNet Desktop Service Center developed by OptusNet Engineering Multimedia Solutions which monitors the connectivity of your Ethernet or modem adapters that links you to the internet. The process dsc.exe sends data on open ports to Internet or LAN, and returns the data back to confirm and display the speed of the connection.
If you are subscribed to a DSL or Internet service with OptusNet, they will release a copy of the software which includes dsc.exe as a means of managing your connections.
Once installed on your system, the OptusNet Desktop Service Center, or the file dsc.exe, will be installed under the location C:/Program Files/OptusNet DSL Internet/and will be included in your startup group to be executed upon boot. The newest version of the file released on the market today is OptusNet Desktop Service Center version 2.0.
After initialization, the process dsc.exe will place an icon in your system tray just beside the clock and will start monitor your connection if your modem is turned on.
Another function of the process dsc.exe is that it will try to reconnect to the internet in case if there is an interruption or a weak connection. It will also produce a log file that will inform the user of the instances in which to explain possible causes of connection unavailability.
The process dsc.exe is not a required component of your system and can be disabled if necessary. You can do so using WinTask or MsConfig; or you can remove the entire application under the Add/Remove Programs under Control Panel.
