Windows Process Description:

The process drst.exe is part of the Doctor SpeedTouch Diagnostic application. Dr. SpeedTouch acts as diagnostic software that works in tandem with Alcatel SpeedTouch ADSL Modem.

The STManager or the process drst.exe sends out information to a server which sends out the information to a server and sends it back to the program to test the network if the SpeedTouch ADSL Modem connection is working properly. Once the process is active, it continuously checks the connection of the ADSL modem and provides the user with enough information in regards to the function of the device.

The process drst.exe or STManager will not work if you are using Ethernet or if your computer is a client under a network.

The file drst.exe is bundled along with the drivers for the SpeedTouch ADSL Modem by Alcatel but can be downloaded separately from the site http://www.speedtouch.co.uk/. The drst.exe file size is 118,784 bytes in a Windows XP Operating System. The file drst.exe is placed under the location C:/Program Files/SpeedTouch/Dr SpeedTouch/.

Upon installation, the process STManager or drst.exe is included in your startup group and the startup registry key is located under HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run/

The process drst.exe or STManager is not a required component for the system to work, nor is it required for your SpeedTouch modem to function properly. It has been noted that the process drst.exe or STManager can slow Win2K systems. If it does happen, you can disable the process drst.exe from your startup group by using WinTask or MsConfig, you also need to remove the value STManager or drst under its registry location.

You can also uninstall the application by running the Add/Remove Programs applet under Control Panel.
