The drivespeed.exe process or Nero DriveSpeed is a utility that allows you to configure the reading and writing speed of CD-ROM drives attached to your system. This feature is very important, especially to high-speed high-performance drives since it allows you to slow down relatively fast drives that will affect the overall result of your reading and writing capabilities.
It is a well known fact that high-speed and high-performance drives allow you to have a faster data transfer in a relatively short period of time and these drives are durably-built to handle this kind of performance. But the CD and DVDs used may be damaged during the reading and writing process, especially on high-speed CD-ROM drives.
Possible damages from high-speed drives include noise, reading-damaged discs, spin-up/down time, or in a worse case scenario is when the CD or DVD will break while still in the CD-ROM drive cause damage.
The file drivespeed.exe can be installed in your system either manually as a single installer or bundled together with other Nero CD-authoring software. The drivespeed.exe file can be found under the location C:/Program Files/Ahead/and the startup registry automatically start the application from a Run, RunOnce, RunServices, RunServicesOnce.
