Windows Process Description:

The dpps2.exe process is part of the software called Pop-Up Stopper and Anti-Spyware developed by PanicWare. A pop-up blocker will be embedded onto your Internet Explorer while will stop any pop-ups from loading on your screen. The bundled software also has the capability to detect incoming file whether it is a spyware or not thus notifying the user before any harm comes to the system.

The process dpps2.exe, or Pop-up Stopper, has multiple file sizes depending on the Windows Operating System used - known file sizes include 708608 bytes, 733814 bytes, 716800 bytes, 692224 bytes and 675840 bytes.

Once installed in the system, the process dpps2.exe will be included in the startup group and would load upon boot up, and the file will be located under C:/Program Files/PanicWare/. After the process is executed, it will place an icon on your taskbar and embeds itself on your Internet Explorer.

The process of dpps2.exe differs whether you are using the Pro edition or not. If you are using the Pro edition of the software, the dpps2.exe will not be loaded on startup, or included in your startup group, but it will be embedded in your Internet Explorer to be used automatically without any configurations needed.

The process dpps2.exe is not a requirement system component and is not required at startup and can be run manually under Programs in Start Menu. If needed, you can easily disable this process under the Process tab in MsConfig or by using WinTask.

Since this is an application, you can easily uninstall the said process along with the bundled software Pop-Up Stopper using the Add/Remove Programs applet in Control Panel.

One problem encountered with the process dpps2.exe is when you are using Windows XP SP1. The dpps2.exe may cause some problems with your Internet Explorer, and it will still be in your startup group even if the software is uninstalled.
