Windows Process Description:

The process dpcstart.exe is a Startup Utility which belongs to the software DirecWay (now termed as HughesNet). The process dpcstart.exe will load the processes dpcproxy.exe and dpcnav.exe proxy services. DirecWay (HughesNet) is a satellite-based internet access which caters to provide internet connection in out of reach places like on the road or out in the countryside.

The dpcstart.exe will connect to the proxy server of the DirecWay service and using your HN7000 satellite dish as a medium in the connection. This is a popular service for those who spend more time on the road in their trailer trucks than those in offices and homes.

Once installed on the system which is bundled with the HN7000 family satellite dish, the process dpcstart.exe will be placed under the folder located in C:/Program Files/with a file size of 73728 bytes and 61440 bytes in Windows XP.

It will be included in your startup group with a registry key of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/User Shell Folders.

The dpcstart.exe process will place an icon in the system tray with the name DirecWay Navigator, and would provide you with Internet access through the DirecWay service.

The process dpcstart.exe is not a component of Windows Operating System and it is not required by the system, and can be disabled if necessary. Before disabling the process, you first need to end the already executed file process under the Process tab of Task Manager, then you need to remove it from your startup group using WinTask or MsConfig. Once done, you can also remove the value "dpcstart" or "direcway" from the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows /CurrentVersion/Explorer/User Shell Folders/DirecWay or HughesNet caters to satellite-based internet access through the use of high performance HN7000 satellite technology.
