The akl.exe file is a part of the Adramax Keylogger. A keylogger logs all the keystrokes of the user, and saves it in a log in the computer's hard drive or sends it over email.

The akl.exe file can be installed and run on the operating systems Windows 2000, 95, 98, ME, NT, XP and 2003. The latest version for the akl.exe process is 1.8. Installation of the akl.exe process needs the user's consent.

During installation, the akl.exe process gives the user the choice to install the Keylogger engine, Documentation and Log Viewer. If the user chooses to install the full set-up of the Adramax keylogger, it creates the files kh.dll, il.dll, AKV.exe, Uninstall.exe, license.txt, qs.html, tray.gif, menu.gif, AKL.hm, akl.001, akl.002, akv.ini, Adramax keylogger.lnk, Log viewer.lnk and Help.lnk. The akl.exe process also creates the registry keys HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/App Paths/akl.exe and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Uninstall/Ardamax Keylogger.

One installed, the Adramax Keylogger monitors and logs all the keystrokes of your computer. The akl.exe process can transfer records of a systems use via FTP or email. It runs invisibly in the background, with no visible window. The user has the option of showing or hiding the akl.exe process' tray icon using the Ctrl+Alt+Del+H key combination. This ensures that the person who installed the akl.exe program can monitor all computer use undetected.

The akl.exe file is considered by some databases as malicious software since it is able to monitor computer use invisibly. However, the creators intend for the Adramax Keylogger to be used as computer usage monitoring tool, giving the user full access to the activity being done on his or her computer when she is not present.
